My Darling Contradiction

You bend and fold my paper thin self control
Creating an airplane of inevitable destruction
You let it cruise into the air without a care in the world
The only bad thing that’ll happen in this life is the day we find out we’re about to die
I’ll ask myself if I lived up to my potential
If I conquered an inner demon or two
If I found a reason to be happy in the midst of chaos
And if I could say I loved somebody with my whole heart
If I answer yes, then and only then will I die in peace
The only thing that’ll ruin this is you
You have the power to derail my life
You could be that fiend that always escapes my grasp
You could you could be the creator of my insanity
You could manipulate me into loving you, even though all the while I was lusting you
You hypnotize my rationality, tossing it to the wind with reckless abandon
Yet when I close my eyes all I see is you
You erase all your faults and imperfections with the flash of your irresistible smile
You caress my irritated mind with your delicate touch
You have me wrapped around your every finger and you hold me in your hands
Hostage, begging for more
