My Daddy Died

My daddy died today.
He's gone away
and he won't come back
with me to play
and tell funny stories
so we can laugh.
My daddy died.

He was an old man,
ninety-four years he lived.
Though he never gave hugs a lot
or let a tear fall from his eye,
he lived as best he got.
My father who are in heaven ...
where else would he be?
He was always good to me.

I am old now too
with these tears in my eyes.
My years add up to sixty-five
but a child cries from deep inside
because today, my daddy died.
Today he went away.
We were both old now
but I'm not ready to go away.
I cry because my daddy died
and here I have to stay.
