My Dad

When I think back on the days Every memory has your face. You taught me how to swim and ski You played legos and games with me. All the hours of homework we did And all the nights of just talking instead. Always there when things went wrong You were the first one I called on. We had our ups and our downs Things were hard but we figured it out. I don’t know where I would be today I f you had not stayed Years have passed by and you’re still by my side I just wanted to say Thank you for all you have done Thank you for never giving up But most importantly of all Thanks for being my dad.

There are so many special dynamics between a step child and a step dad, Cory...On the first read through I tho't it was about your biological dad...I have never been a step parent, but I can imagine there are different stressors for obvious reasons...This poem focuses on the positive attributes and is filled with thanksgiving. I believe he truly enriched your life by remaining and being steadfast...a blessing to read this outpouring of your heart. luv, gwendolen
