My Dad

I said the same thing twice. 

As if that will help me remember.

I said the same thing three times. 

As if that will help you remember. 

My dad is on his way. 

He’s never been in a hospital before. 

My dad is on his way. 

I will try to smile for him. 

So he remembers me fondly. 

He says he’s proud of me. 

As if this is a celebration of my life. 

But I am still alive. 

I am only 22.
