My Court Date Awaits

Flying a kite in an electrical storm Frying an egg in the desert sand Parachuting into a big, red barn Pitching a tent in quicksand My army training prepared me well Stayed calm midst crises, never yelled The consummate pro... 'til I babysat five kids one night Said, "Go to sleep now, kids," and turned out the lights

Lol! My neighbor was a Sargent in the Air Force, I was in awe of her. We talked about her time in war, and her husband's as well. I told her I didn't know how she could be so brave. She looked at me in all seriousness and said "You're the brave one, all those kids. I don't know how you can do it. I don't have kids, they scare me!" We laughed SO hard!!! Oh my gosh. They can be quite the handful sometimes!

Lol, she was afraid of them! A career USAF woman thought me brave? Wow, I was honored and still amazed! Anyway, she did tell me that my kids inspired an interest in having her own, and they looked into adoption, so,I guess my kids aren't very scary :) for the most part...lol! Some of their antics have raised a few hairs, especially two-year-olds! oh....and teenagers...learning to drive? Yikes. That can make any parent tremble from time to time! :)

Does my court date awaits relate to the attempt to put the kids to sleep. Babysitting is not for cowards. One of my grandsons wouldn’t sleep…oh that was fun. His parents were traveling and I had to keep one eye open whilst trying to sleep.

your poem made me laugh...nothing, absolutely nothing can prepare us for handling five kids. I was trained as a teacher and could handle a classroom of children, but babysitting five kids....unnerved me. Cleverly done & I like the rhyme scheme...it worked...enjoy your evening, hopefully without five kids. :-) Sara

Late night stories in the dark while they are tucked in bed will put them right to sleep

Ha!! Ha!! I don't know how you made it with five at one time. LOL..My father came from a family of 8 boys and 3 girls. I don't know how his mother made that work especially in the late 1800s in rural American on a farm especially until the oldest ones reached an age where they could help. It must have been horrible for her at times. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K

My court date awaits ? Kids can be pretty rambunctious, especially if you put 5 together and they have a mind of their own.
