My Cold Acceptence

Truth is truth and pain is pain both are burdens felt
Scars of darkness carried since a young child
                          Yesterday's gone
                            And yet it stays

Haunting screams of childhood from leather razor strap
That cut the flesh in burning welts of red
Beaten battered body lays in a heap
A terror-filled mind with its cold disdain

In my empty nights so silent
My soul releases all its tears

                          As I look back
                            When trust was lost

Memories of raised welts on a young body from a razor strap cruelly administered, leave emotional pain wedded with physical pain that is never forgotton. Dancing around a room unabled to sit without excruciating pain, sears the brain. Unfortunately I relate to your poem on a personal level. Being stung by jelly fish compares somewhat. You express it so well Frederic. Congratulations on your win! : )

Your aching painful truths flow with heart and soul through your tearful ink, Frederic. Poignant lines that so beautifully lay bare the echoes of past events so catastrophic to a young mind, body and soul. Your poem reaches in deeply and implores the emotional attention of my being to linger and feel your experiences through your heart-rending words.. I'm so sorry you bear this burden, my wonderful friend. Warmest wishes and hugs always.. ~Susan
