My Burpy Feathered Guest
A little bird flew in my window today
surprising me as he flew my way.
Seeing me he came to a stop
landing softly upon my countertop.
I tiptoed to my pantry door
grabbed some breadcrumbs I bought at the store.
The little bird seemed to know the brand
for he flew into my outstretched hand.
I poured the crumbs upon the countertop
he gobbled them up so fast I thought he would never stop!
Flapping his wings he gave out a big burp
covering his beak with one wing he gave out a little chirp.
Sheepishly he looked at me as if to say
"excuse me for being such a pig today"
With head held high he flew to my front door
as he flew by I told him he was
invited anytime he wanted more!
