My Buddy

I miss you already, Buddy. You’ve been the apple of my eye. When I think of life without you, It makes me cry. It makes me cry. Oh, so many moments we've shared together, From romping mischief and tummy rubs to those pesky fleas; And nothing’s better than my puppy’s kiss; You always try your very best to please. You always curl up with me on the bed. You always meet me at the door. You run and jump and bark with such excitement. Yes, Buddy, I know you couldn’t love me more. And when all others fail me, Buddy, My best friend is always there. Through my very worst of times, Your eyes and your attention said, “I care”. Five to seven years for every one of mine Is so little time... it’s hardly fair. It must be God’s way of saying, “Love them now… and well. There’s precious little time to spare”. But, if I should go before you, Buddy, Love your new master without reserve; And they will love you as you love them. It’s what a great pup like you deserves. I miss you already, Buddy. You’ve been the apple of my eye.

I thought this would be about me. Everyone called me "Buddy" as a kid. You might enjoy my rhyme about our "Snickers". I've reposted it from several years ago. Thanks for sharing your work with all of us on the soup. You are both entertaining and skillful. oldbuck

Dogs make great pets. It's too bad most of us outlive them. You have written everything here rather well.

It was system timing I guess. I was trying to send that thank you to Anne Lisa Andresen just as your comment popped in. I had to send her a separate one . Weird, but I do appreciate your kindness. I been writing stuff for years, but there did not seem to be a forum anywhere to share. I've done several OU poems that have been shared around, primarily due to the topic. Again, thanks so much for reading and enjoying.

You are sooo appreciated. What a great trade! I want someone to read and enjoy my little poems. I've done a couple other 'pet' poems you may enjoy. My wife and I are animal folks, having saved only 4 dogs, but 19 cats over the last 16 years. Three cats, originally born feral, are the oldest and still cannot be touched, but they live on our patio, where they get fed and are safe They purr when we speak to them, but no touching. They were the parents of most of those since passed. It's so hard to lose friends.....even those with fur.

I'm new at this. I thought I was sending a reply to you, but somehow sent it to Robert Pettit. He also gave some kind feedback. What a great trade! I want someone to read and enjoy my little poems.
