Notes About The Poem

My Blue Cheese Is - King Prawns

When I see a king prawn in its shell Some vomit I want to expel This fish food I despise With ten legs and two eyes It’s really my idea of food hell! I baulk when a king prawn is peeled and that witchetty grub is revealed It makes me feel sick I look away quick My disgust just cannot be concealed! Ha, ha ... ha, ha. Too gross funny, Jan! Man, those beady, eerie eyes looking at you banishes the appetite. Creative, humorous write, dear friend. Love and best wishes for the new year.

Thanks Freddie I've had a tough time recently and not been active on soup and as for King Prawns I've read recently about the removal of the eyes of female breeding prawns and it is sickening so i wouldn't eat them on principal:-( hugs Jan xx

withetty grub. GOOD term for it, Jan. They are much like shrimp and I remember my brother in law making his big shrimp dish with sauce. He was so proud to give it to me and I had to tell them I could not eat it. After one bite, I thought I would hurl!!

So how do you feel about prawns? Kidding. I have read about 7 of these, and in 5 cases I learned I love things most won't eat! Well written and clever, Jan - good to see you and your pen active. I was down and missed more than a couple of days. All is well. Hugs ... CayCay

Amen to that, Jan- prawns have never been a favourite. I remember the prawn man coming round the pubs with his tray of prawns and cockles, and someone always asked if he'd got crabs. Boy, if he had a pound for every time he'd heard that line. Sadly, he passed away last year, but the feedback in the paper showed what a local legend he was for almost fifty years. I still don't like prawns, though.... fun write, I'm sure you'll do well. Viv x

I love seafood and especially shellfish Jan. It must be because I grew up gathering cockles at the local beach. You did a good job here describing your distaste.
