My Blissful Flying Dream

Flying dreams keep me unaware of the stuff that might keep me in my place.
My eyes have no thought of opening, unaware they are shut,
My heart is pure happiness, in our safe spot.
Until I land hard in my body,
		        And my hands shake.
I gasp, and my eyes pop open.
                                    My heart is beating rapidly,
                                                I am now
                                              Disturbed, and
			Perturbed. I try to return
To the fly zone of ecstasy, but I am
Now starting to resume the earthly awareness
That I am squeezed into this confining shell
I cannot wait until tonight’s REM sleep
                                                  Hoping for a more graceful
                                                      Landing next time my soul
                                                                  Returns.

Such an amazing free verse, Caren.. Terrific imagery!! Sometimes during my sleep, I suddenly feel my body jolting.. As if I must have returned back into my body.. During a specific part of our sleep state, it has been said that we actually leave our bodies. We are just not aware of that action.. I really enjoyed your free verse, my friend... Blessings!!

Thank you Robertina. My husband claims in a fire, I will never be able to get out unless he can lift and carry me as I astral travel all the time. My father was a terrific astral traveler.
