My Beat Up Song

I should have
I wish I had
I could have
But I didn’t.
My beat up song.

I should have
I wish I had
I could have
But I didn’t.
My beat up song.

The one I began singing
After my mother passed.
I should have visited her more often.
I wish I had known she was dying.
I could have been there for her.
But I didn’t know, and I was not there.
My beat up song.

Comes a time when we have to put all the "woulda-coulda-shoulda" stuff behind us. We can never change the past, so we need to live with it or dismiss it. Most of the crap I tend to dismiss.

I do not spend any time on it now, but there was a time.
