My Addiction

My Addiction
To those in my life I’ve caused so much pain
When I think about it, there was nothing to gain
For so long I pushed everyone away
Shut people out, created total disarray
They say you learn from a past mistake
You remember those who’s hearts you’d break
I lost so much because of my addiction
Anyone I met got caught up in my daily affliction
But I’ve finally gotten myself to a better place
Discovered the struggle of sobriety is not a race
Follow the program the best I can
Slowly make myself a better man
No longer do I hurt those around me
Don’t act like a dork at a family party
My life has gotten so much better now
From the time I wake up, I feel really wow!
