My Actions

Am I not my actions?
My choices,
my decisions,
my hopes and dreams turned real?

Who I am is who I can become,
for I am not complete – not yet.
With my actions I forge my character,
my future,
my life – it is all in my hands.

What I do defines who I am.
Success or failure? My choices brought me here.
Besides, isn’t success and failure sometimes
a mindset? A conscious decision to act that it is so?
An act.
A choice.

Words? I can say anything,
mean anything,
but until I act my words are just that –
words.
Who did right? The one who said they would and didn’t?
Or the one who said they wouldn’t and then did?

Thoughts? There can be a claim here –
I think therefore I am – no.
Just because I think something does not mean I do so.
Thoughts like words are transient,
flitting and rushing, hard to chain down.

But my actions!
Here lie my lasting decisions,
affecting the world long after I have gone.
I choose who I am to be today, tomorrow, and forever after.

An excellent write - and indeed actions are recorded on the fabric of history. But are not also thoughts and words?

Yes, but I still think the crux is that you choose. You choose to write and to think and to make it real. Just thinking and never acting... it doesn't go anywhere.
