My 46th Father's Day

On my 46th Father’s Day I’d finally have my say For I’d heard the pleasantries before they all seemed like cliches Ties and tie-pins made such fine gifts for the first 20 years, if you catch my drift Going out to eat was never much of a treat for a table you have to love to compete So, this year I awoke and looked my wife right in the eye and popped the question: Am I a good father? ~ Don’t tell me a lie

You're a good father, my guess she said...then went back to sleep. Why did she not make reference to husband? You're also, a fine poet in my estimation. I've known my wife long enough now not to ask questions...and just listen.

wow! my husband so often wonders the same thing, his quality of fatherhood comes into play as he reflects. Sometimes he seems to torture himself even though he knows no one is a perfect parent....yellow rose
