musings on freedom
how may currents carry us
as long as we choose to resist
which involuntarily we always do
by virtue of identification with form
our striving is volition
cessation too is volition
by virtue of employing will
to execute our heart’s desire
merely thinning out of conditioned ego
though it lets us see through the mist
yet merely wallows in the shallows
by insistence on retaining control
if a fish is trapped in a fisherman’s net
ceasing struggling it may find peace
but if it wishes to find freedom
wherein it is truly limitless
the fish must become the water element
