Music Philosophy

Sounds... they affect us and our behaviour We react to nature’s bellowing thunder and find our epiphany of inspiration by the dripping of rain. We discover ourselves melancholic in a soft breeze and sway under the rush of a waterfall. Nature seems to have provided the original mood music. People are mesmerized by the nightingale’s voice, scared and empowered through the lion’s roar, even compassionate upon the noises of a small creature. We then made music by ourselves to mimic nature’s splendour. Subtle as drizzle, some begin soft and resonate sorrow until it reaches a downpour. You could hear it in the stroking wails of the violin. Bursting, unexpected as thunder, some scream out passion and rage. You can feel it rising within yourself, no comprehension necessary. Hypnotising as the bird’s song, some captivate audiences and force them to feel according to its own will. Preference plays the conductor’s hand of our emotions, but music, regardless, carries on. It never ends. It has no bounds. It does not apologise. It answers to no one. It is not forgotten. It cannot bleed…
