Music, Mood and Musing
Long years before I could afford it at all:
The setting I dreamed was of a large room,
Windows open to the majesty of mountains,
And the cool, fresh breeze from miles beyond.
A cushioned chair lulls you, not to sleep
But drink deep of the sunswept scenery.
A music system that surrounds and lifts
Your mood and you on top of the world.
You sit back and celebrate the glory of music
And relive the happiest moments of your life.
How would it have been if there was no music,
To transform pain to pleasure in so few hours
You forget yourself, feel the worries are gone
The phone rings, people need you: you’ve to go
Back to discipline: work, worries, unshed tears.
Life’s for living. Turn not your back on it. Enjoy !
Today, in a concert, I enjoyed for real,
Sweet songs from a charming woman
With a magic voice and a magic style
Of rendering timeless verses to perfection.
The smiling lips the constant bows and joy
Given and shared with the listeners a world anew.
The lyrics are of pain, suffering, unrequited love
And they fail not to convey the joy of being alive.
And in a dramatic move, she sang of her land
And what it told her, “My daughter, be the guard
“Of the honor of your mom, the integrity of your land!”
Your apparel is your standard hold it aloft! Her voice broke.
She shifted to folk songs and joyous tunes I remember.
I sit back and savor and celebrate the glory of music.
What would we have been if there wss no music, no singer,
The lilt, the duphoria, the tears, that transform your life
In the space of a few hours and you forget yourself and then
The phone rings, people still need me, I go back and meet
The every day world of work and discipline and unshed tears.
Life is worth living, don’t turn your back on it, it is a real joy.
