Music Is In My Soul Thanks To Daddy

I love classical music, for it reminds me of
Walt Disney's musical full-length featured comics.
Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty,
And when I was older, Fantasia, my favorite.

I love Willy Nelson, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn,
Reba, and her daughter-in-law, Kelli Clarkson.
They remind me of my father who used to
Hide in the basement playing his favorites.

My mother did not like music. She listened to the
News channels, and read the encyclopedias. She
Never danced with delight, or hit a pot with a spoon.
I cannot hear a beat without jumping up and dancing.

My favorite songs are by Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra.
Christmas songs. I will sing them to high heaven, any
Month of the year. They make me feel joyful, and loved
By God, Jesus and everyone else in my childhood memory.

When I hear rock and roll, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, I drive like a maniac. Music reminds me of the 50's, the 60's,
And the 70's. The Beatles, and the Beach Boys. Wow!
Did I ever have a crush on all of them! Music makes me young.

I turn nineteen again when I hear songs from Sonny and Cher,
Mac Davis, Tony Orlando and Dawn. I have such memories
Of Muskrat love. Barbara Striesand and Bette Midler
Captured my heart too, not only in music but in movies.

I love music. It feeds my soul and makes me feel alive!
It brings back memories, and reminds me of my loved ones
Who are now in heaven. It makes me jump up and dance
And sing. It is in my soul, thanks to my Daddy.

I loved all those too, but I evolve with each decade. I listen to current music on my car radio to keep up with contemporary songs, so I just naturally like EVERYTHING. Old rock sure was nice though!! (my biggest crush was on Herman of the hermits)

Ah, yes, I did not think you were old enough to know Herman of The Hermits. I always misjudge your age, my dear.

Your daddy was a good man. You walked me down memory lane in this poem, Caren, very enjoyable to read.

Thank you Sheri. I wrote and posted this on his birthday. He has been gone 7 years, but not really ever gone.

Thank you Line. It was fun re-focusing myself thinking of all the goodness and happiness I have had in my lifetime, pondering how it had come about. Suddenly I thought about music. I love it. The Voice is my favorite TV show. I cannot sing well, but I sing with enthusiasm and loudly.

Thank you Line. It was fun thinking of the reasons I love music, and he is the main reason for sure. Plus my dance-y prance-y side always wants to move with music.
