Mum's the Word

When the twilight embraces us so does the Light and with the Light comes inspiring encouragement. Quote by: Eve Roper It was the dawn of childhood days all of summer strewn across the lawn like broken coils n' rusted dreams Imagination was the key to unlock every door except the bolted door of anger and abuse; Sealed, unaired, like stolen prayers to the wind those years were filled with solitary sorrows, writhing hands of toil and eyes like a sparrow ; I recall snippets of memory, such as Mother sitting on a faded couch, fearing the next blow I awake in my room counting the squares of a flimsy coverlet, until the last streak of night bled out, then we all lay still.

This is a wonderful poem expressing childhood hurts. I can relate! I, too, have counted quilt squares. Thanks for sharing.

Mystic, Very profound poem. Like the squares of a child's coverlet, the memories keep an accounting of the sorrows in life. -Richard
