Mud Pie Sale

Ten for a dollar, not worth a dime.
Two bucks gone, such a crime.
The emptiness of their shovel and pail.
Left twenty mud pies up for sale.

Babysitter blues, six at a time.
We're left searching for clues, with no reason or a rhyme.
Pain around our neck, feeling bought and sold.
In a world that's lost tender hearts of gold.

Faded maps of where to go.
Yesterday just doesn't know.
We're left to wonder, where'd we fail.
To just end up with this mud pie sale.

About new town in case it's too obscurely written. Peace.

I love the line about baby sitter blues. I always got so attached to the children I babysat for. So kind to think of them, along with all the others among this tragedy. Blessings

Great write, great rhymes, dear Robert! You had the right words to say sad true things; but here we are, a buch of daydreamers who can stand and face reality, because we are full of faith! So, Peace be with you and your family always, and have a very very happy new Year! Big hugs, Hanitra

Came back here and saw what you added about this theme. I can really see it in the middle stanza. I can't even recall if I had gotten your true meaning the first time I had seen it or not!! But it's very clear this time!!

thanks for the high praise on my stardust poem. I felt really good about that one too even though my son is 33 years old and never watched the stars with me. well, I take that back. I would take him to Friday drive in theater night with me and we watched those movie stars!!!
