Mr Skeleton's Punishment
Mr Skeleton’s Punishment
The cell Mr Skeleton hung in overnight
was cleaner than his attic bedroom.
He was very angry that night.
He'd missed (with great fume!)
the Halloween Bonfire Night
because he’d assaulted Hume.
Hume was a checkout operator.
Mr Skeleton was supposed to be in and
out, be very quick,
buy some hot chocolate powder and
chips. Be very quick.
He was highly skilled at avoiding conflict
until Hume made a rude comment about his rotting top lip and bottom lip.
‘Shouldn’t you be FIRED, Jerk?
How are you allowed to treat
a customer like that?’ Mr Skeleton (no jerk)
raged, his eyes red as a beat.
Hume coughed,
and coughed.
Then he roared, ‘Your dead
lips stink! I’m only nice to the not dead!
You’re DEAD!
You’re CREEPY, CREEPIER than Pinhead!’
‘You don’t even know me, friend!
My looks aren’t important. I am nice, friend!
I could be your... your best friend!’
‘I know your type, not friend!
And, looks are everything.
You’ll NEVER be my... my best friend!’
Mr Skeleton growled hard at Hume.
‘Oh you’ll see!’ As Hume
shook he said, ‘Oh you make me shake!
I’d better go before you eat me. Break!
I better take a break.’
But, Hume was too scared to move.
Is he or isn’t he his best friend
he didn’t have to prove.
‘Mr I’m Not Your Best Friend, the line ...
look, there’s no one in the line,
no one in Food World. The fault isn’t mine!
Your total rudeness will close the fine
store! You’ll have to join the unemployment line!’
‘SHUT UP!
SHUT UP!
Those brown tendrils of hair
on your parietal bone, those
skinless ribs deserve a stare,
your exposed ilium, sacrum, pubis, those
I CAN’T BARE!’
Mr Skeleton’s anger tripled. ‘DON’T LOOK AT ME!
Have you any brains! YOU WILL look like me
after you die, won’t thee!’
‘How can I NOT NOT look at you!
GET OUT!
OUT YOU
EVIL THING! OUT! OUT! OUT!’
Mr Skeleton’s anger reached one
hundred on the anger scale.
He dropped his chips and pitched (hard one)
the powder tin at Hume’s head dead pale.
SMACK on the frontal bone. ‘OUUCH!
GET OUUUUUUUUUT!
LEAVE NOW! OUCH!
OUT! OUT! OUT!’
Mr Skeleton, feeling like he’d won, left smiling.
His smiling
disappeared the second he saw the serious
police (one was looking at him and crying)
on the path hurrying toward him with serious beckon (no smiling).
