Mr Fox
MR FOX
Mr. Fox lives on mice and berries and so does his vixen whom he marries. It was after they had 5 kits when they decided to settle down and find a nice den outside of town. Mr. Bear showed them one with a mouse run included but they decided it wasn’t sufficiently secluded. He showed them one on a hill with a view which didn’t fit the bill because of its exposure too. He showed them one most secluded of all but with 5 kits it would be too small. They finally found one pleasing to Mrs. Fox, the vixen, ideal to her , though it might need some fixen’. They then heard Mr. Bear say, “that will be 6 berries per day that you must pay and, if paid when due, in 20 moons it will belong to you. Well, this was all that they could scrape together and that assuming continued good weather. Even knowing that, that snarly old B ear pushed them to sign the den’s mortgage then and there. All was fine and things went well until the big oak tree fell and laid up Mr. Fox until he became well. They still managed to make the payments due that jerk by putting the kits to work until, no-one knows why, one moon the weather turned dry, the mice moved away, and after 6 missed payments came judgement day for they could no longer meet the berry tariff and were ousted from their den by Coyote sheriff. They tried to keep the family together in a scroungy old thicket out of the weather offering some shelter but lost 3 of the kits who ran helter-skelter.
They did make do with berries few but rued the day when they signed for more than they could pay.
