Mr Barber
Hello Mr. Barber, I’m here for my bloodletting
I’ve been long overdue for this appointment, I know
Yes, bring out your set, I am ready for the procedure
I am so grateful to relax in your chair
Now the blood drips onto the page
A slow trickle and into a stream
It yearns to be absorbed
But more than that it wishes to water the soil
It’s so difficult to be in charge of living matter
To care, cradle, and carry on leave me exhausted
I want to rest but rest never feels enough
This body yearns for a more permanent resting place
Mr. Barber, perhaps you could cut just a little deeper
Just a little longer
Just a bit more than you should
So that I can sleep
No, no you’re right, Mr. Barber
Bloodletting is a small release
Just to get by
It’s not my last sleeping aid
