Moving Forward
When you left, you took the warmth
of the fire with you that I can’t deny.
But my heart still beats, and like an
Aloe tree, I didn’t wither, nor did I die.
On reflection, it seemed you didn’t
care enough, as you never did look
back.
I was devastated, and both my days
and nights were either grey or black.
Moving forward wouldn’t be easy
with a broken heart,
Each stride I take will be a struggle,
but I will make a new start,
Tears will fall, and I might be slow,
but I won’t be deterred, and I won’t
stall,
For the strength deep in my shattered
Soul will never let me fall.
My memories of the happy times we
shared will survive longer than just
a while,
They will accompany me through this
fight,
And as I reminisce about the days
gone by, I will always smile,
Cause I know after the darkness of
night comes a new dawn that will
shine bright.
If I could, I would let you look into
my heart to see every special
moment is still beautifully intact,
For me, it was time well spent, sadly
you didn’t understand they were real
and not an act.
I will leave the past behind and
although the road ahead might be
long and hard I see beauty in
moving on.
So your offer of, let’s be friends,
I must decline, and never again
dwell upon.
