Mourning Has Broken

When you attend a funeral you don’t expect to laugh But a typo by the printers was such a glaring gaffe An N was mistyped in a word So ‘Mooring is broken’ looked very absurd It’s to be played when I pass, it’s a favourite song And I’m sure that Cat Stevens won't get the lyrics wrong! This happened at a funeral I attended recently, in the order of service there were actually 2 mistakes made by the printers 28/7/19

LOL well the mooring had broken from his physical body. They can sing that at my funeral. At one funeral, I attended this voice in my ear informed of the spider above the coffin and began to bounce on it's web while people singing. I departed nr choking holding my laughter until safe distance

Are you familiar with the Mary Tyler Moore show from days of past? She went to a funeral and couldn't stop laughing inappropriately which made a very funny episode. I recently laughed reading something that had left the 'g' out of 'black angus' and some thought me inappropriate! (they were wrong) Love it ... CayCay

I had this song at Frank's funeral, it had always been a great favourite of us both and I will have it at mine too, but hopefully they will spell it correctly! We went to a funeral where the lady was named Ruby and I don't think her sons had really listened to the song that her coffin was brought into - it was 'Ruby, don't take your love to town! With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Jan, this is such a beautiful song, I understand why you love it... that must have been funny to see but I bet you had to hide your laughter at the funeral ~

Love those typos! I'll never forget one that read, "Boy Scout organs for sale!" Aloha! Rico

Hi Jan, I agree, one doesn't expect to laugh at funeral. But I have been at funeral and something happened that was funny. It so hard to keep your composure and not laugh. Because it's not expected in that setting. I enjoyed the read:-) Alexis

I opened the order of service and was so shocked to see the typo - I would have thought they would just copy and paste the words to hymns but there were 2 errors:-( Its so funny we used to sing the song at school assembly and I didn't like it but now I love it especially the keyboards which were done by Rick Wakeman - I met him several times as he had a house here:-) hugs jan xx
