Hello Carol, Miss these words in an uneasiness, like birds when they go silent. Though can't recall when.., somewhere along the path. Just a quiet forest looking down at me now. Hoping the kindness in a voice returns; the birds sing again. -Richard

The Rainy Mountain On the top of it and down to the river The rain drops are carefully falling. Around, everything looks up in wonder The mountain too but always up amazing Never has it looked down, before, now or after. The mountain is always up and patient And people feel pride after climbing. Little do they know the way to it is eminent! But who wants to pay heed? Who cares? The sun does not set but hides behind it. And as you see! The clouds meet and kiss the head of it. Take this then from time both ancient and modern: During wind and rain, The mountain is patient. During love and hatred, The mountain is patient. But when it gets angry, Please forgive and forget. Chokri Omri

First place, WOW!!! I know this made your day as it was a very competitive contest, Carol,,,when I read this haiku I am breathing more relaxed as I meld with nature,,,,great work!...Also wanted to say thanks for the placement in your contest...For me it was special bc typically the judges aren't familiar with all the landmarks I write about---not the case for you with my bicycle poem about the places I traveled in our home state. Thanks again, Carol...Hope your summer is off to a great start. Been a little immobilized with the heat..

Dear Carol, Thank you for your warm welcome, and wishes. My love for haiku enticed me to read yours. It certainly evokes to the eye the watercolour-like scenery and emotion lying in a haikuist's soul. pyrgia
