I currently live near this noble mountain called Pikes Peak. It is indeed America’s Mountain. When it snows on the peak it brings to mind all the wonderful things we have and can share with the rest of the world, even in times of turmoil. Katharine Bates Wrote the poem “Pikes Peak” in 1893. It is truly a wonderful poem. The most popular melody was written by Samuel A Ward. “America the Beautiful” published in 1910
Day-184 “A Mountain Melody”
Your majesty
In snow white crown
High above the plains you rise
I knelt and prayed that someday
I would own you for my own
America! America!
Shed some grace on thee
I will bring you jewels
From the plains
Dress your throne in velvet blue
America! America!
Shed some grace on thee
A masterpiece
A patriot’s theme
A pilgrim’s dream
“America the Beautiful”
Shed some grace on thee
Sing it loud
Sing it proud
Tis our country
Tis of thee
America! America!
Shed some grace on thee
Till nobler men once again
Shine their lights of thee
