Motive

Misty morning haze
Smoky skyline hues
Greyscale water colours

Sun floods milky
In smoky shades
Light losing tint

Dreary dawning
Ignominious feel
Runny colours fade

Weary spectacle
This ominous aura
No birds sing

Smoky persistence
Like old-time
Pestilence lingering

Rain rain come again
Clear the smoky haze
Let the children play!

There will be time
For non-smoky days
No haze and bronchitis

To each
A motive
To be festive
