Mother and Daughter
Through the storm of breath and bone,
The weight of life caught in rhythm,
A crescendo of labour, fierce and unyielding,
She bore the ancient pain.
Then relief, a release, the cutting of the cord,
A thread severed yet forever entwined.
Skin to skin, a warmth shared,
Soft, fragile, yet strong as iron forged anew.
Her eyes opened, tiny mirrors of promise,
Reflecting on a world of wonder she’s yet to see,
Mother's heart swelling with both fear and hope,
Each beat a prayer, each pulse a vow.
In that sacred gaze, a silent promise,
Of hands held tight through dark and light,
Of dreams cast forward, one lifetime shared,
Mother and daughter, a journey just begun.
