Mother

What is a Mother? A mother is the buttons That holds the family together She walked you to school each day Regardless of the weather She was always there to patch you up Every time you scraped your knee She shed tears when you started nursery At the tender age of three When you went to school at the age of five She took you to the gate You assured her you'd be okay And told her not to wait Before you went to grammar school You had to sit the Eleven-Plus Even though you feared you`d fail it You didn't like to make a fuss The day you told her you hadn't passed And wouldn't be moving schools with the rest All she did was hug you And said you'd tried your best The day that you left school Your mind was filled with fear And mum said she'd support you Whatever your choice of career Work was hard to find To the job centre you had to report All the time spent looking for a job You always had your mum's support When you found love and flew the nest Your mum had opinions she didn't voice She treated your partner with the utmost respect She'd allowed you to make your choice When the relationship sadly failed It was one of mum's greatest fears She was a good judge of character And knew it would all end in tears Always respect your mother And value the times that you share Because one day you'll really need her And she`ll no longer be there

I think about these things often! My Mother is still alive but I can never tell her enough how much I love her! A really meaningful write, we can never repay them
