Morphine and More of It
Her spirit lingered for days,
wandering around the hospital
visiting her friends, making small talk
Some heard, others thought she was a mosquito
spirit returned to Room 119 often, to check on body
Body was having a difficult time
Chest rattle said it was time to go
Body would not give up
Spirit was hoping hospice would come in
Morphine! Spirit yelled, and lots of it
Body relaxed at last, releasing spirit into the next journey
