Mornings

Somewhere in the south The sun rises above the trees The sounds of birds are heard The wails of saddened families resonate The tree of woe is full once again Freedom again has been denied Life has been taken To those that have tried to find a new day They have found only death Let them hang, the overseer says Let the others see what will happen There will be no escape There is no hope The elders can only shake their heads As the tears run unabashed But somewhere in the crowd Dreams to be free are waiting To be unleashed (c)kingpen2021
