Morning Mess

not sure how she got here
only know she needs to leave

underneath the stranger
my arm numb; asleep,
mouth a desert.
a hundred dead cigarettes dance my tongue dry

princess of night
exposed by light.
get me out of this;
another dreaded morning mess.

bed broken
along with my will.
I swore never again;
the lie is half the thrill.

I remember this one and really liking it before as well. My homestay girl is really sweet, Joey, but now that she knows she is leaving me after only one month, she is going out a lot and then needing me to go get her. I have less than half an hour now to get out of here. I read your soupmails , thanks. And I am curious what made you look at my Clover poem. It's not on any poem of day or winner charts that I know of, is it? ok, see ya!!

wow, GREAT free verse. I see you are calling it rhyme, but it actually reads more like free verse with some rhyming in it -to me anyway, Joey. So you are the kind that just picks up girls at bars? Or is this based on fiction? I enjoyed this and I see it won a place in a contest too? Awesome!

This is quite witty, Joseph. Haven't ever awaked to find a stranger beside me, but I got a kick out of your poem. Love, Carolyn
