Morning Frost

The first signs of winter
came with the first frost
which touched live plants
leaving them droopy
looking wilted and forlorn
due to the cold temperature.

Snow had not arrived
but the trees now barren
shaken by strong winds
still clung on to dry leaves
that refused to fall
as winter embarks.

Some of those leaves hang on tenaciously until the buds come out in the spring amazing isn't it. I enjoyed reading your work. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

Good stuff Phyl with great description. Been raking leaves in my back yard and covering my roses with them. This is the time of Fall that I like. Not too hot and not too cold. Dreading the biting cold of Winter and hoping for plenty of snow. God Bless, JB

Beautifully described here Phyl. Love it. I was out raking leaves into my garden yesterday trying to cover my Roses and Carnatians and Lilies. Cutting back the Rose bushes and covering them with leaves, what a job. Also cutting down the tall Hollyhocks.(puff, gasp) Was so tired when I got back inside. But it's done now. Had been putting it off. Wonderful verse here as always. God Bless, JB

Thanks Judy. Just noticed this morning my peas and strawberries had frost. I threw in peas late to see what they would do but did not beat the frost. Was nice to watch them grow anyway. Glad you got your cuttings done and yes a tiring job getting ready for winter. Hope it does not come to quickly. Not a winter person. love phyl

I love this poem Phyllis, so descriptive so well penned my friend. I have never experienced a winter day like we had last year, it went to minus seven degrees centigrade.Climate change is scary, we all have to do our bit to save this planet, and as someone said on the new recently, why look for another planet to go to and not fix this one rather. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I so agree we have a beautiful planet why go to another one that has nothing on it. Thanks for your comment and we are reaching the minus temperatures at night right now. love phyl

Yes the cold and dark days ahead are not my favourite time. I have enjoyed so much time outdoors this past year that it will be hard to come inside. Have a great week. love phyl
