Caren, congratulations on your win in my contest. I have to admit that I had to look up the word morel and was surprised to find out it is a mushroom. What a lovely poem!

Thank you Constance; I guess because I live in the midwest US, I had wrongly assumed everyone would know morel like we do. They make YUMMY eating - cut in half, and fried in tasty crumbs, dipped in ketchup.

I used to have them on a regular basis, fried with ketchup, when I was a child in Iowa; my Daddy and his brother loved to mushroom hunt, and I knew the smallest ones were always going to be the tastiest. Other siblings grabbed up those tasteless larger ones.
