More Than

More than the still of flag
and purpose in abate,
is virtue waiting for its call
and courage doomed to wait!

More than the bask of fate
complaining with appall
is Godly will, without a state
or answer to give all!

More than a kindness shown
or distant rivaled path,
as nature with its selfish hones,
outspoken with contrast!

More than contention's shifting grey
conflict, no season mends ~
I found no bitterness could stay
when you said . . . more than friends!

For all the rest is foolish stray
and bids the heart no end
for all the moments spent that way,
you still are . . . . more than friend!
