Moonshiners Ditty Collaboration

Moonshiners Ditty By; Charles Messina Collaboration

Gonna wake up
At the brink of dawn
Take a shower
Throw my blue jeans on

The little red rooster
Is my alarm
Cock-a-doodle doodling
On my farm

Gonna water
All of my crops
Especially
My barley and hops

Gonna spread out
All the bales of hay
Where the goats and the horses
And the cattle stay

In the pasture
Down by the creek
Where we went
When we wanted to sneak

A little moonshine
I stole it from my dad
The best damn moonshine
That I ever had

I'm gonna go
And see a little rodeo
Then I'm going dancing
To do the do-si-doe

Then I'll stop by
Over near the school
To jump in the river
In our swimming pool

Gonna get my little lady
A cold bottle of wine
And get myself a bottle
Of my dad's moonshine

She decline the bottle of wine
made a beeline
to dad's moonshine
by the end of the night she was mine

Eve, I love the stanza you added to my poem. This poem has been made into a song and I might have to consider adding your stanza to it. Wonderful! Thank you for entering my contest and Congratulations on your win... :) Charlie

Ohh, great line "by the end of the night she was mine," how tantalizing! (btw I posted a 'thank you' to my poetrysoup pals so I hope you check it out!)

This poem is outstanding - you and Charles outdid yourselves in this collaboration. It is so witty and lyrical that I would love to hear it put to music! Love it - definitely a fave for me! Hugs and love. Pandita

This one was put to music by a band from Sweden. It is done in sort of a rock-n-roll style and it has a wonderful beat to it. Thank you Pandita!

Very entertaining. Had me smiling all the way through. Just a little of that "who shot john" will do the trick. Some of that stuff will make you cuss your mother:)
