I was traveling with a buddy of mine and he was listening to some kind of hill-billyish counrty music. Don't get me wrong I like a lot of country music, but this music he had on all sounded the same. I swear I listened to ten songs and I honesty thought it was one long song.(lol) So I said to my buddy that anyone can write one of those songs it's all the same. He said to me 'oh yeah betcha can't" and I said to him "oh yeah, betcha I could" So we made a freindly wager. I said I'll write one and if you don't like it then I'll buy you breakfeast tommorow. But if you do like it then you buy mine. Well, the next morning he bought me two eggs sunny-side up with sausage and whole wheat toast and a coffee..!!

Gonna wake up At the brink of dawn Take a shower Throw my blue jeans on The little red rooster Is my alarm Cock-a-doodle doodling On my farm Gonna water All of my crops Especially My barley and hops Gonna spread out All the bales of hay Where the goats and the horses And the cattle stay In the pasture Down by the creek Where we went When we wanted to sneak A little moonshine I stole it from my dad The best damn moonshine That I ever had I'm gonna go And see a little rodeo Then I'm going dancing To do the do-si-doe Then I'll stop by Over near the school To jump in the river In our swimming pool Gonna get my little lady A cold bottle of wine And get myself a bottle Of my dad's moonshine

Love it, Charlie and let's hope it hits No. 1 on the music charts some day! This would make a dandy song! Thanks for commenting on a couple of my concoctions - Bob

Lol...love it...yes it reminds me of my Hillbilly Redneck Sonnet (except mine was poorly written). Loved this song! Now get Budgie to put it to music!

Hi Charles. Thanks for your kind comment. I don't drink at all, but I found this poem to be a lot of fun reading. I could not resist adding a stanza. Thanks for the opportunity. Blessings.

G'day Charlie … enjoyed the rhythmic flow of your ditty. Be wonderful to hear sung around a campfire, but what we be drinking? - thanks Charlie - Lindsay

G'day Lindsay...this ditty has been made into a song by a band from Sweden...they did a wonderful job with it. But I can picture it as you say...sung around a campfire...we be drinking Moonshine! Thanks for your visits...Charlie
