Moonlight Exposure

I sit in my room.
Watching the wind.
My mind ponders the life I was given.
The thought of death chills me to the core
And yet I think of it.
For Death is a painful truth
While Life is a beautiful lie.
But I think of the Moon rising up in the sky.
Her beauty graces me.
Her light kisses my skin.
My heart beats
a little bit louder in Her presence.
I glow, glow so brightly that it’s as if
I am Her star.
I listen to Her voice,
Her song,
She creates freedom at my feet.
I open my window and I feel myself climbing the tree.
I long to get a closer glimpse of you.
Just one.
She makes me feel as if this is all worth it.
All this pain and darkness.
If I can stand in Her light
With Her forever more
My Moon, My true Love

Jasmine, the moon will always be with us, and your poetry, too, I hope.

"But I think of the Moon rising up in the sky." Yeah! Heck yes, Jasmine. : )

I agree Doug, I could watch the moon for hours. A while ago I had some very bad depression and while music and therapy helped a little, it wasn't enough. Then one night I watched the Moon rising and i felt complete and total bliss.

Welcome, Jasmine! I think PoetrySoup is a good place, and that the mOOn is a great topic. Never tire of seeing the first tiny piece of moon get above the horizon, or having clouds dance across its face.

Doug, you're comment made me soooo happy! This was the first poem I posted on here!! I just joined a few weeks ago and I had no idea what to write. So I used the same poem I did for my Lit class!

Chris Green, thank you sooo much!!! I can honestly say that I am most proud of this poem. I was just sitting in my room, watching the moon and I realized how much I look forward to seeing the moon. This was a school project I did for my Lit class and my Lit teacher LOVED it!
