Moon-Eyed One

Autumn wind sighs sleepily
As the veil of night descends
Damp with the scent of smoke and rain
The fragrant rustling of leaves
The sadness of stone

The moon
Round and ripe in the midnight sky
Smiles coldly in her silence
With her bruised and blue-tinged face
Turned downward to where you stand
Alone

And you, my moon-eyed one
Untamed spirit of myth and mystery
Outcast omega of your tribe
Dew like drops of moon on your pewter fur
As the ashes of Time on the silken wind
Take wing

Still as stone
As the seasons revolve around you
Frost forming on your changing coat
White as Winter's ruffled feathers and you
Lift your head and your voice
To the goddess moon
Silver, blue and true
Your sister in the sky
And sing.
