Monwhat?
Every time I tell someone
From out of state
That I'm from the state of Louisiana
The bottom of the map
Automatically they assume
That I am from
The Big Easy, the Cresent City,
The Birthplace of Jazz, The N.O.,
But my answer is No.
I am from Monroe,
A small city from the top
Of the bottom of the map
About Roe, they zap
Then they say where you from?
MonWho?
MonWhat?
Where is that?
I get tired when they ask
I keep hearing the same old tune
Maybe I should make it
My task
To make my home place known
Make it my job
To put MonWho?
MonWhat?
Monroe, Roe City,
On the map.
