Monkey Year

Usher then this monkey year bright,
Welcome wise bliss where peace moves right.

See floral tints as flowers bloom,
Heed then the hint of joy that grooms.

Come with sure proof of life cycles,
Sense the plain truth as plot trickles.

Jump up and down and all around,
Mimic the clown with antics sound.

Feast and feel good with kin and kind,
Seize cheery moods in sensuous finds.

The way of ease begins with cheer,
Welcome bright peace with love right here.

Share fond blessings that fill your space,
Live bold dreaming as wit sculpts face.

Auspicious times come around now,
Set steadfast rhymes to bridge endow.

Be agile then with juggling trends,
Here know just when to prime your plans.

Great! What a tribute to the Year of the Monkey! The short inspirational and whimsical couplets remind me of the seven-character aphorisms written on (usually red) strips of paper and hung from doorways in Chinese households. What else is there to say but Xin Nian Kuaile! ("Happy New Year!")

Dear Brian: Yes, that's my intention -- to mimic the Chinese auspicious couplets written in pictograms which this ancient language is well-known to convey precisely. Thank you for your kind comments. Leon
