Moments Alone At Night

One light bulb
lights up my room at night
   One more dawn comes
an excellent time
     to decide
on how to spend the hours
as - like sand - they slip away
a seabird flies overhead
       On it's way to the
ocean
         I hear music in the
distance
         Or perhaps it's just
the cries
             of birds on the wing
     I watch the flock
               as it circles
overhead
Long gone is the seabird
     Now a flock of unknown
origin is flying overhead
    Where will they go when
the sun burns out
      Never fear - they'll find
another candle to light the way
                One light bulb
lights up my room at night
