Mom

“My family is very far away”
My mother confessed to me
As she cried.
I thought she meant
Her family halfway across
The world in South Korea,
And maybe a part of her had,
But her mother had died
When she was twelve
And young daughters
Never grow out of
Wanting their Mommies.
