Mississippi Blue Skies

Mississippi blue skies on a Thursday morn The magnolia trees are in full array Close to where the delta blues was born, Mississippi blue skies on a Thursday morn As an opossum scurries through the corn, Where children gather in a sand lot to play, Mississippi blue skies on a Thursday morn The magnolia trees are in full array.

After what Tina Turner said about Mississippi, I had never wanted to go there in my life. This poem has changed all that.

Ah, Tina...one of my favorites. I'm so sorry I never got to hear her live in concert. Mississippi is still pretty backward, as far as I'm concerned, but I have a good service buddy who lives there, so I visit with him now and then. Glad I gave you a different look at the state.

You painted a very tranquil scene Milton, your poetic battery is fully charged. Tom

Thanks, Tom. I hope so, although I rarely have a bout of writer's block. I can always think of something to write. It may not be good, but it's what I do!

Thank you so much for your thoughts, Thomas. I just returned from a two-week trip throught the southern United States, hence this poem.
