Missing Your Potential
Washed up thoughts and dried up habits
Still wanting to reach out and grab it
You thought those dark roads were lit
Your mind just wasn’t equipped
To handle the absence of it all
The stumble, the trip, the fall
Nobody was there to catch you
For that I apologize, I miss you
Forever is too long for my mind
To accept you being gone this time
You left an indelible mark on me
Too bad you didn’t make it to see
Life outside a seemingly never ending rut
Chasing the thought used to drive us nuts
Now I sit back remembering all those times
With you it would have been great to make that climb
Now all I can do is remember you through a rhyme
