Missing my son

No one tells you how much your life will change
when a loved one is ripped from your life suddenly
It begins as surviving minute by minute,
then changes to day by day, just learning to exist
with a hole in your life that used to be alive and vibrant
but there are times that stop you in your tracks,
when memories hit and flood you with feelings
that overwhelm you, and you have to handle them
so that you can function and you wish for the numbness
that you experienced right after he died
Numbness is no way to live, but overwhelm isn't
much fun either, and it comes often these days
When someone asks me what is wrong, the answer
is "I Miss My Son" and life is very hard without him!
