Notes About The Poem

There are so many great versions of this song.  The origianl was sung by Alison Moyet, but the cover by Flying Pickets is my actual favourite... This one is also nice.

Misplaced in the mist of misery

Why do you show me
such treasure,
only to deprive me.

When you are gone,
smoke fills the air,
I'm misplaced in
the mist of misery,
w a n d e r i n g
helplessly lost,
masking melancholic
emotions.

Parasite winds
bring little respite.
If only they would
whisper my
mute messages,
blowing tepidly
into your heart -
then maybe you
would gift me one
more glimpse.

Then like the
majestic sun would
you re-appear?
Embracing me with
passion and desire,
so my heart smiles
like the crescent moon,
till darkness comes,
veiling your light

and then
you disappear (again),
leaving me
misplaced in
the mist of misery.

SO, There are so many treasures that can delight us. It's tough when the fix disappears. I think in the end, if we love ourselves adequately, we are able to move on. It's not so easy as all that since brain chemistry creates things that can't just be wiped away.

Life is hard to bear S1, when someone special (or our loved ones) are not around anymore, your poetic prowess expresses this misery quite beautifully, even though it’s horrible, cheers David

Splendidly evocative of love and heartbreak, SO. Passion and desire play with fire---and then you disappear (again)--succinct ending says it all.

Dearest Silent One, I really loved that you poetically show such longing as you capture the bittersweet dance of hope and heartache. It is filled with treasure and smoke, passion and despair, with so many emotions that speak to the depths of human experience. Silent One this is a heartfelt reflection on the ebb and flow of love's presence in our lives. - Blessings, Daniel

The way you express emotions of passion and desire is truly captivating.Your words reflect a heart that smiles like the crescent moon until darkness comes, veiling your loved ones' light once again. This poignant poem has plenty to reflect on, and your descriptive language adds depth and meaning to it. It's a wonderful song, and it's a perfect choice.

Misplaced in the mist of misery! What a line to use twice in your heartfelt and soulfully touching poem dear silent one! Youv written a poem that flows seamlessly and would resonate with many. I love how effortlessly you use alliterations and how your poems emanate emotions. I especially love the lines “ Parasite winds bring little respite. If only they would whisper my mute messages, blowing tepidly into your heart -“ that hits so hard altho delicately, still is strong enough to slice the moon in amorous skies into half! Your poems inspire me always! Pleasure reading this! If this is for a contest. Best wishes! Sending you light always dear silent one
