Misplaced Appreciation

MISPLACED APPRECIATION

Once more the irrepressible wind of spring nears,
Flattens the stalks of new copse shoots,
Drowns the dryng roses with excessive vernal tears,
Exposes the remains of snow drift roots.

We stand, heedless zombies, applauding
The reckless destruction and defeat
From Invisible muscles of wayward spring -
Smiling automatically at its advancing heat.
