Mirror

Mirror
I look into the mirror, but I don't see me
A stranger in my skin
Lost in a cold, dark place
Eyes are heavy, drowning in regret
Haunted by a past I can't forget

This face, it's mine, but I can't stand the
sight,
The damage shows more since we last
screamed
I'm lost in a silence thick with shame
Haunted by what I can't forget

I see the hurt in your eyes
not anger, but something worse
disappointment wrapped in quiet
heartbreak
A wound I carved that won't ever close,
a silence too deep to mend with sorry.

I stand before the mirror, fists clenched,
rage boiling under the skin i want to tear off.
Regret screams louder than my thoughts

Mirror mirror on the wall,
I hate what I've done,
I hate who I've become.

Even the mirror flinches,
refusing to show me back.

Each time I face my reflection, sorry clings
to my breath.
It spills from my lips like a prayer to late.
I see the hurt I caused staring back at me
not just in your eyes, but in mine

I don't see me
But something twisted, wearing my face
And I fight it everyday
Begging it to leave
But it clings to me like my own shadow

If I could tear the night apart and rebuild it
with gentler hands,
I would
I'd take back every word, every look, every
moment

My eyes are heavy, drowning in regret
Haunted by a past that can't be forgotten.
